The ELM327 is the newest PC-based scan tool that supports all OBD-II protocols. It comes with several compatible programs. Featuring an ELM327 processor, it connects to your laptop via USB. The free OBD-II Software for ELM327 enables you to use your PC and the hardware interface to obtain car computer information. This user-friendly program is easy to learn and install - just extract the files to a folder on your hard drive. To uninstall, simply delete the folder. It supports DOS and Windows platforms. It supports multiple OBD-II protocols like ISO15765-4 (CAN), ISO14230-4 (KWP2000), ISO9141-2, and J1850 VPW. With an output protocol of RS232 and a baud rate of 9600 or 38400, it has indicator LEDs for OBD Tx/Rx, RS232 Tx/Rx, and Power. It operates at 12V with internal short-circuit and overvoltage protection and has a nominal idle current of 45 mA. The program allows you to read diagnostic trouble codes (both generic and manufacturer - specific), clear them, and turn off the 'Check Engine' light. It can display a wide range of current sensor data such as engine RPM, coolant temperature, and vehicle speed. Upcoming features include data graphing, logging, and more. There are also many free software options available. The package includes 1x ELM327 USB Interface OBDII Scanner Tool and 1x CD Software.

Using the ELM327 PC - based scan tool is easy. First, connect the ELM327 USB Interface OBDII Scanner Tool to your car and your laptop. Install the software by extracting the files from the CD to a folder on your hard drive. Once installed, you can start the program and begin accessing your car's information. To read diagnostic trouble codes, just follow the on - screen instructions. To clear the codes and turn off the 'Check Engine' light, there are specific options in the program. When using the tool, make sure your car's engine is off when connecting or disconnecting the scanner to avoid any electrical issues. Also, ensure that your laptop has the necessary system requirements to run the software, like supporting DOS or Windows platforms. For maintenance, keep the scanner clean and store it in a dry place.
